This year, Campus Recreation celebrated its members and the five-year anniversary of the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC, Bldg. 42) opening with the most successful Member Appreciation Week to date, serving more than 250 students per event.

To celebrate their five-year anniversary, the five-day school week consisted of five themed giveaways ranging from Five Guys gift cards to five-minute morning massages. Students who used the BRIC during this week were also entered into an opportunity drawing to win prizes such as AirPods, Disneyland tickets and a Hydroflask.

Members enjoyed free guest passes, merchandise discounted up to 50 percent off at the Pro Shop, hot cocoa and Reese’s Take 5 candy bars. Members were also encouraged to take five minutes to enjoy free coffee and bagels.

“Each day was fun and exciting! Seeing the joy in our members’ faces signing up for massages or pouring their morning coffee was so rewarding. We really do appreciate our members and hope that our event helped express that well,” said  Coleen Shamalian, BRIC outreach supervisor.

Since the BRIC opened on Sept. 26, 2014, Campus Recreation has been able to serve students through their Emerging Leaders Program for student employees, the Sport Club program and events such as Rec Fest.

“The BRIC is where I come to unwind,” said Courtney Yu, fourth-year international business student. “After a long day or a stressful week, I’ll come for a workout and a Jamba Juice, and it just helps give my mind a break.”

Member Appreciation Week celebrates not only the BRIC members but the accomplishments and milestones of the BRIC. Some of the most notable accomplishments include receiving the PCBC Gold Nugget Award of Merit for Best Sustainable Commercial Project, the LEED Gold & NIRSA’s Outstanding Sports Facility Award and establishing ASI’s first graduate assistant program with tuition reimbursement for sport clubs.

We want to say thank you to all the staff and students who have helped to celebrate the the achievements of Campus Recreation and the BRIC! To keep up with all of our ASI events, make sure to follow us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram @asicpp to get updated about upcoming events.
