Transforming student lives since 1963. Engaging CPP students for more than 6 decades!

Founded in 1963, Associated Students, Incorporated California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (ASICPP) has been at the forefront of enhancing the college experience at Cal Poly Pomona. Our student-elected Board of Directors serves as both the voice of CPP students and as a non-profit corporation board. ASI is one of almost 100 authorized auxiliaries of the California State University Board of Trustees to ensure mission-fulfillment of the California State University System.

At ASICPP, we’re dedicated to providing opportunities for student engagement, leadership, and a wide range of student life programs and services, including recreation and wellbeing, student union and activities, student government, clubs and organizations, food pantry, and children’s education and care.

We manage an annual operating budget of $18 million, $5 million in annual debt service, maintain approximately $24 million in reserves, and oversee 294,253 square feet of student space, including the student union, recreation center, and pool.

As part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a reporting line to Administrative Affairs, ASICPP serves the entire campus population, including more than 27,000 students.

How We Do It

Starting in 2020, ASI fully engaged in its own transformation and continues the work of becoming a “Learning Organization“.
Through the process of co-creation and collaboration to reimagine ASI’s guiding principles, we have determined that:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About ASI

ASI is a student-run organization that’s all about making life at CPP better for students like us! We put on fun events, provide useful services, and create leadership opportunities to help you get involved, build connections, and make the most out of your time at CPP.  Plus, we represent student voices to make sure our needs are heard on and off campus! 

ASI is a student-run, 501c3 nonprofit organization separate from the university. It’s led by a Board of Directors made up entirely of CPP students who are elected by students each year. While the university gets funding from the state, ASI is funded by two mandatory student fees—not tuition or state funding—which helps us provide events, services, and spaces for students! 

ASI provides a variety of resources and opportunities, including:

Nope!  High school ASB typically plans school dances and pep rallies.  ASI is a nonprofit organization, run by students for students.  An operating agreement and sublease with the Board of Trustees of the California State University System defines ASI’s functions to support the mission of Cal Poly Pomona including:

  • Student Government, which serves as the voice of Cal Poly Pomona students both on-campus as well as in the local community and the state and federal levels of the US government. 
  • Funding and related services for registered Student Clubs and Organizations 
  • Operation of the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex and the Bronco Student Center 
  • In partnership with the University, the Children’s Center, which provides early childhood education and care for children ages 18 months to 5 years old.  

ASI is completely student-led! Our Board of Directors is made up of elected student leaders, including the ASI President, Vice President, and Senators who represent different colleges and councils. We also have staff who help support these efforts to provide diverse experiences, services, and spaces.

ASI is primarily funded through two mandatory auxiliary fees that are part of the Tuition and Fees Schedule for a student enrolled at CPP — the ASI Facilities and Operations Fee and the Associated Students Incorporated fee.
