From Monday, Oct. 3 to Friday, Nov. 18 the ASI Art Program will have a new exhibit, “Art Beyond Borders”. The exhibit will feature the cultures and experiences of 24 artists from 24 different countries. Visit “Art Beyond Borders” at the Bronco Exhibit Gallery on the second floor of the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35).

This fall quarter, the ASI Art Program will be featuring an ice cream exhibit, a narrative of Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) students and their favorite flavor of ice cream.

Broncos take a hike with Campus Rec Adventures

Join Adventures as they blend Yoga and Slacklining in order to create a unique student experience with “Find Your Balance” on Monday, Oct. 3 and Thursday, Nov. 17 from 7-9 p.m. Register here.

Kayaking 101 is an experience-based course to provide students with the opportunity to learn about basic kayak strokes and techniques. Sessions will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 and Monday, Nov. 14 from 5-7 p.m. Register here.

Adventures will be offering Skateboarding 101 and 201 this quarter! These classes are designed to help students interested in learning how to skateboard without having to commit financially and purchase a board. Skateboarding is a great transportation option for any college student; sessions will be held as follows:

  • Skateboarding 101– Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 7-9 p.m.
  • Skateboarding 201 – Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 7-9 p.m.

Backpacker Workshops provide students with the ability to learn and practice backpacking skills. An introduction to Wilderness navigation, this program includes instruction of equipment use related to backpacking and the skills necessary to successfully navigate through the backcountry during a multi-day trip. At the end of the four sessions, students will help plan and execute an optional overnight trip. Sessions will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 5-7 p.m. Register here.

Primitive Skills is a four-week series of workshops focused on teaching necessary skills to thrive in the wilderness with minimal supplies. Topics will include: “tarpitecture,” fire starting and primitive navigation, among other skills. At the end of the four sessions, students will help plan and execute an optional overnight trip in the backcountry. Sessions will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5-7 p.m. Register here.

Enjoy a beautiful walk from the BRIC to the Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch on Friday, Nov. 11 from 9-11 a.m. Along the way, learn interesting facts about incorporating health and fitness to your daily routine.

Gain an idea of your current fitness levels with baseline fitness testing. The fitness assessment evaluates body mass index, cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Fitness assessments are a great tool for measuring the effectiveness of an exercise program and tracking results.

It’s time you start seeing results! Our nationally certified personal trainers will work to provide highly individualized exercise programs based on your fitness goals. Prepare to be educated, motivated and inspired. Sessions are 55 minutes long and geared toward your fitness level. Learn about various group fitness certifications and what it takes to become a group fitness instructor in the field at Super Saturday. Participants will be introduced to basic concepts such as class design, scope of practice, careers in fitness and how to teach a safe and effective class. This program will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the BRIC, Studio C.

Are you a CPP student looking to volunteer with the Children’s Center? Be sure to present records of the following immunizations: measles, pertussis, influenza and a current TB test done within the last year. Then make sure you fill out the application online.

Lost & Found Auctions will be held noon to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at University Park Stage; noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at University Park; and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the BSC Center Court (Bldg. 35).

Lost & Found Thrift Shops will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 at University Park Stage and noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Games Room center stage (Bldg. 35-1110).

Did you know that art can be great for your mental health? De-stress at the Games Room, Etc. (Bldg. 35-1110) by learning how to paint with a professional! The Games Room will be hosting Paint on Canvas on Wednesday, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 from 6-8 p.m. The event will provide students with supplies and will include free food and drinks! To reserve a spot, visit the Games Room in the BSC (Bldg. 35-1110).

Compete in the Games Room’s pool tournaments this quarter. Tournaments will be held Friday, Oct. 14 and Nov. 18 at noon; prizes will be distributed to first, second and third place winners and will include gift cards to the store of choice.

Pingpong tournaments will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. in the Games Room, Etc. (Bldg. 35-1110). First place will receive $75, second place $50 and third place $25.
