ASI Art Program 

The Associated Student Incorporated Art Program will feature three different exhibits this quarter inside the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35).

The first exhibit will be from April 11- 15 and will be based on the Week of the Young Child. It will be based on early child learning, young children, their teachers and families. This will be sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAYEC) and will feature an artist reception on April 13, 9:30- 11 a.m.

The second exhibit will be Duality: Blaxicans of L.A., a photo exhibit which explores multiracial identity.

The last exhibit of the quarter is Save the Animals! This will feature art inspired by environmental issues and set to be up between April 18- June 10 with an artist reception on April 22 from 6- 8 p.m.

Bronco Events and Activities Team (BEAT)

PUPPIES IN PARKDRE

BEAT will be having volunteer meetings on April 7, May 5 and June 2 during U-Hour (noon- 1 p.m.) at the BSC, England Evans (Bldg. 35- 2132).

BEAT’s spring quarter music festival, Rock the Commons, will take place at Bronco Commons May 6, from 6- 10 p.m. Come out for a night of music, food and art.

Make sure to go to the BSC, Ursa Major (Bldg. 35- 2611) on May 20 at 7 p.m. for a magical time at the Magic Show featuring standup magician Derek Hughes.

Space Run will light up the night with a live DJ, neon face paint, DIYs and much more. The fun starts at 7 p.m. on April 14 at the Bronco Commons.

Attend the earth week fashion show Recycle. Reuse. Runway. during U-Hour (noon- 1 p.m.) on April 26 for some eco-friendly fashion at University Park.

Venture through Cal Poly Pomona on April 28 for a musical adventure with The Travelling Show. The music will start at Noon inside the BSC (Bldg. 35) and will travel through the campus.

Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35)

During week 10, the BSC (Bldg. 35) will remain open extra hours to provide students with a safe study spot. Enjoy studying, free snacks and testing supplies (while supplies last).

Drop by Studio B at the BRIC (Bldg. 42) during Open Rec and challenge yourself with the Workout of the Day.

The ASI Incentive Program for ASI professional staff will be May 28 through June 10. This program is designed to bring ASI staff together through physical activity and participation in Campus Recreation programs and activities. More details coming soon!

Soccer, flag football, softball and many other sports are available for intramural teams. Make sure to register your intramural team before the deadline on April 14.

Start the quarter right with our event Splash into Spring on April 1 from  6- 10 p.m. at the BRIC (Bldg. 42) pool. Grab some boneless chicken wings and enjoy some poolside games at this First Friday event.

Be sure to head to the BRIC (Bldg.42) for “Nochella” Open Mic Night on April 2 for a musical evening with MEIC club members and other bands who will perform on the pool deck. The event will take place from 6- 10 p.m.

Improv Night will be a night of comedy with ASI Campus Recreation and MEIC. Come enjoy churros on hammocks from 6- 10 p.m. on May 5 poolside at the BRIC (Bldg. 42).

If you love film and chilling in the pool, then come to Flick and Floats. Relax on an inner tube, hammock or lounge chairs and enjoy some awesome movies at the BRIC (Bldg. 42) pool. Dates and movies are as follows; April 14 Neighbors, April 22 Chasing Ice, April 28 Jurassic World, May 12 The Hobbit. All movies begin at 7 p.m.

The only thing better than tacos is tacos and music! On May 20, Campus Rec will be partnering up with Redbull to provide live music at Rock Bands and Taco Stands Pool Party at the BRIC (Bldg. 42) pool from 6- 10 p.m. Did we mention the tacos are free?  

Venture to Joshua Tree National Park with Campus Rec and explore the wildness of the California desert on April 23 and May 7 from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m.

If you are a climber, join Campus Rec for their two traditional climbing outings on April 23 and May 7 to Joshua Tree National Park and step up your lead game. The price is $45 for BRIC Members.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to slackline, now is the chance. Attend Slacklining 101 or 201 and learn this awesome trick! Slacklining 101 will be on April 14 and May 5 and Slacklining 201 on May 18. All workshops will be from 5- 7 p.m. at the BRIC (Bldg. 42).

Dress up in your best western attire and register for the second annual Boulderodeo, a bouldering competition held at the BRIC’s Bronco Peak on April 16. Beginner and advanced divisions are available.

Children’s Center 

The Children’s Center (Bldg. 116) will now be accepting applications to the Kids University Summer Program. The program for children ages 6- 10 will provide fun summer activities such as swimming, field trips and much more.

The Children’s Center will also collaborate with ASI Student Leaders from April 18- 22 during Earth Week to provide some fun activities for the children.

Art work made by the children of the Children’s Center will be featured in the BSC’s (Bldg. 35) art exhibit Week of the Young Child.

The Games Room Lost and Found Auction event returns this quarter. Come to the University Park during U-Hour (noon- 1 p.m.) on April 19 or May 3.

The Games Room Etc. (Bldg. 35- 1110) will now begin to host Thrift Shop. Come by on April 26 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the University Park.

Student Activities and Programs (SAP)

This quarter, every other Tuesday, ASI SAP in conjunction with the Games Room Etc. will be hosting Taco Tuesday at the Games Room (Bldg. 35- 1110).  The event will feature karaoke, games and of course, tacos!

SAP will be hosting Yoga & Massage in the BSC, Ursa Major (Bldg. 35- 2611) on  April 28 from 6- 8 p.m. Come relax with activities ranging from art therapy to a water bar.

Join SAP for a screening of the film Straight Outta Compton on April 21 in Ursa Major (Bldg. 35- 2611) from 5- 9 p.m. In addition to the film, there will also be discussion about the history of hip hop and police brutality led by Dr. Fredrick Gooding Jr. and CPP Police Chief Dario Robinson.

SAP is hosting an Ice Cream Social! Come enjoy games. ice cream and good times at the Games Room Etc.’s (Bldg. 35- 1110) on May 12 during U-Hour (noon- 1 p.m.).

ASI STUDENTGOV
From career fairs to fun student activities, ASI Student Government is staying busy this quarter to provide students resources. If you are interested in an environmental career, visit the Green Career Fair on April 21. Time and location TBD.

Make sure to drop by on May 27 to the Bronco Olympics which will not only feature fun activities, but also a campus-wide scavenger hunt starting at the Bronco Commons from Noon- 8 p.m.

Join Student Government for open forum meetings this quarter where the topic will be the semester conversion. Each college will have a specific information session, so watch out for the dates and times according to your college. The general forums will take place on April 27 and May 17. Time and location TBD.

Lastly, be sure to keep an eye out for voter registration tables throughout the quarter.
