Julian Herrera speaking at a podium

Hey, Cal Poly Pomona Broncos!

First and foremost, I want to say that it has truly been an honor to serve as your 2015-16 Associated Students Inc. (ASI) President. This academic year has gone by so fast! As I sit in my office typing this out, I think back to my freshman year when I was a resident living in Alamitos Hall (third floor, room 332). Being a resident was by far one of the best experiences of my college career! It developed me so much. I was as introverted as they come and never would I have thought I’d be sitting in this chair, in this office, with this title.

Being a first generation student, the youngest in my family, and about to graduate this spring, I wanted to share with the campus community that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Hard work, sacrifice and dedication are qualities we all can master if we truly want to succeed. I know we are sometimes led to believe that things are out of our reach, but regardless if that is true or not, I think it is important to find out for yourselves if something is or is not possible.

I want the campus community to know that this year has truly been a blessing for me and that I have not taken it for granted. I owe so much to this campus, as well as its students, for trusting me and for supporting me. I thank you for granting me this opportunity and I hope I did the position justice.

As this year winds to an end, I want to take the time to thank my administration for the hard work and dedication they have shown. Without our team of dedicated student leaders, Diana and I would not have been able to accomplish all that we did. If any of you are interested in being a part of next year’s administration, please feel free to stop by our offices in the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35-1339) across from Round Table Pizza, and pick up an application for our appointed positions. Applications should be turned in before the end of June!

Thank you,

Julian Herrera
