Working out can be a bit of a drag. With school and work always at the top of the list, how can the gym even come close to competing? Especially if it has been a while since your last visit to the gym (don’t worry, we’ve all been there), we know how hard it can be to just get ready and go. Whether you are just starting out or go every day, here are a few workouts to help you out year-round.

Many of us hate working on our abdomen, however, having a tight core is one of the best ways to start looking and feeling better. One workout to keep your core tight and give you washboard abs is leg raises. Flat bench leg raises are usually the most popular, but any type of leg raise should suffice, as long as you are using your abdomen to raise your legs. If you need some help figuring out how or what flat bench leg raises are, be sure to check out the video above to understand how it works.

If you are looking for something a little more fast-paced, then I suggest putting on your running shoes and going for a run either on the track, a treadmill or out in the open. Running is one of the best things to do when you are stressed out or need to get your mind off of school or work. Just make sure to stretch after going out on your adventure. Make sure to check out the Do’s and Don’ts video to be the best runner you can be.

A workout that is underrated and often overlooked is pull-ups. Pull-ups give you upper-body strength while also working out muscles from your biceps down to your lateral back muscles. This workout is useful for swimming, rock climbing and even practicing yoga. It will help keep you limber for any sport you might want to try.

Remember that all these workouts can be done at the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC, Bldg. 42). And if you don’t feel comfortable enough to do them on your own, you can speak with someone at the front desk to find a personal trainer that can help you reach your goals.
