Thanksgiving is finally here and that means only one thing: eating your life away.

But one thing we often tend to overlook is the fact that not all families are eating turkey today. While Thanksgiving is without a doubt a very American holiday, we’ve all found ways to include our own traditional dishes.

Here are a few dishes some families can expect to see this holiday:

Lechon

Lechon is just a roasted pig that can be found hanging out somewhere in a Filipino household.

Spam musubi

Spam musubi is a popular snack in Hawaii and is simply a slice of Spam on top of rice, drizzled with your sauce of choosing and wrapped in seaweed.

Tamales

I would hope everyone knows what tamales are, but in case you don’t, just know it’s everything good in the world wrapped up in a dried corn husk. You’re welcome.

Jambalaya

Jambalaya is a Louisiana Creole dish that usually consists of rice, vegetables and depending on who’s making it, either shrimp or meat. There are endless varieties, and I’ve made it my life mission to try every single one.

Miso Roasted Vegetables

Miso is a Japanese seasoning that makes for a dish that’s yummy, healthy and good for that one vegetarian cousin.

Drunken Chicken

TU this Thanksgiving with this Chinese dish—chicken marinated and cooked in Shaoxing wine!
