Voting season is right around the corner, and that means it’s your time to decide who will be a part of the next ASI Student Government! It’s a fairly easy process on the side of the voter, but we’ve rounded up a few quick tips to get you fully prepared by the time voting rolls around.
1. You Must Be A Currently Enrolled CPP Student
This probably comes as no surprise, but being an enrolled CPP student is a must if you plan on voting! Cue the, “she doesn’t even go here” scene from Mean Girls.
2. You Can Only Vote Once
3. Voter Information Guide
The Voter Information Guide will be available on the ASI website and emailed to every student. Look out for the guide before the start of campaigning!
4. Vote For Those In Your College
You can only vote for the senators who are running in your respective college. As for senators of each council, go wild, you can vote for each of them.
5. Restrictions For Undeclared Students
If you haven’t declared a major yet, you’ll have to hold off on voting for candidates running in an academic college. But don’t worry, once you’re a declared student, the rule above applies!
6. Yay For Online Voting
Paper-ballot voting is no longer on this campus. Instead, a unique link will be sent to your university email address, leading to myBAR where a headshot of each candidate and a short bio will be displayed.
7. No Write-In Candidates
8. Majority Vote Rules
9. Posted Results
Results will be posted online to the ASI website and also sent out via email.
10. Mark Your Calendars
Voting kicks off on April 15 at 7 a.m. and closes April 18 at 7 a.m.
Find these polling stations conveniently located around campus during the week of voting:
- April 15 and 17 from 1-3 p.m in University Park
- April 15 and 17 from 4-6 p.m. in University Quad
- April 16 from noon to 1 p.m. in University Quad
Every student who votes will be entered into an opportunity drawing for three pairs of Airpods and three pairs of Beats by Dre Headphones!
