The endless studying, back-breaking hunching over your laptop, excruciating exams and frustrating group projects are over… for now. We can all collectively let out a nice, big sigh and rejoice in the fact that it is finally winter break!

So how should you spend the next twenty days of freedom? Here are a few ideas!

Ice skating
Ice skaters enjoy a nice night in Pershing Square in Downtown LA What better way to get into the winter spirit than to put on those skates and take a few laps around the rink? Whether you’re with a date, a friend, or family, ice skating is sure to be a fun (maybe funny if you’re clumsy) affair. Check out Pershing Square and Downtown Disney for all your cute, Christmas ice skating needs!
A woman falls on her face while ice skating and a man simply watches her Hopefully, your ice skating skills are a little more refined than hers.

Queen Mary: Chill
People enjoy the ice skating rink at Queen Mary's winter event: CHILL Enjoy a day of ice skating, ice tubing, caroling, exploring a magical man-made ice kingdom and so much more at Queen Mary’s winter attraction, Chill! From 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., visitors can enjoy a variety of entertainment and activities fun for all ages. Guests can also take a tour of the ship. Check out their ticket offers here.

Enjoying the lights
The lights at Mission Inn in Riverside There are a multitude of places that are beautifully decorated with Christmas lights this holiday season, and one of them isn’t too far off from here—Mission Inn is located in Riverside! Come to the city and enjoy their Festival of Lights, open for five weeks! If you’re feeling like venturing off a little farther (maybe into the Safari), check out the LA Zoo’s Lights at Night!

Snowboarding/tubing/skiing
A man takes a video as he sits in the snow with his snowboard Do you want to build a snowman? With the rains Southern California has been receiving lately, you can bet that the mountains will actually be snowy this winter! If you’re big on snowboarding or skiing, take a visit to Mt. Baldy or Mountain High and enjoy the slopes during your winter break. Not ready for these sports? Mt. Baldy offers tubing options for people who prefer it!

Boat Parades
A boat lit up and decorated sits in the Newport dock These boats are so beautifully decorated, you’d think Christmas was sailing by right before your eyes! Newport will be holding their annual boat parade from Wednesday, Dec. 17 to Sunday, Dec. 21 with holiday themed boats in the harbor every night for five nights. If you’re trying to stay closer to home, Chino Hills will also be hosting its annual boat parade on Friday, Dec. 19 on Peyton Drive.

Disneyland or Universal Studios
Sleeping Beauty's Castle at DisneylandNo one captures that holiday spirit better than the amusement parks here in Southern California. From the happiest place on earth to the Grinchmas festivities at Universal Studios, these theme parks are sure to get your Christmas spirits up! Check out the Games Room, Etc. for special ticket offers at Disneyland, Universal Studios and more!

A cozy night in with loved ones, friends and family
Stitch from Lilo & Stitch says "This is my family. I found it all on my own. It is little and broken, but still good... yeah, still good."You can come back from winter break and brag about the amazing things you did, but nothing really beats some bonding with the people you love most. Heat up some hot chocolate, brew some tea, bake some cookies and gather around with pillows and blankets and take some time to chat, play games, watch movies and just enjoy each other’s company! You can never go wrong with some down to earth quality time.
