The defining moment of an artist’s career is arguably how well they perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, if they even get to perform at all.  With Lady Gaga set to perform this year, Super Bowl LI is about to be Super Bowl LIT.

Last year “Rolling Stone” ranked every Super Bowl halftime show and we have issues with their final verdict.  Here is the only ranking of Super Bowl halftime shows that actually matter, in order from best to legendary.

Madonna (2012)

Madonna is the queen of theatrics! Who else gets pulled onto the Super Bowl field on a winged chariot? And then proceeds to run through her greatest hits all the while incorporating ancient Egyptian motifs, tight ropes and cheerleaders. Sounds like a mess? Sounds like Madonna.

Michael Jackson (1993)

Only Michael Jackson can teleport to the stage and stand in one spot for over two minutes and make the audience go wild. Also, is that bad audio? Nope. You just can’t hear him over his fans going CRAZY for their king.

Prince (2007)

There will never be a more legendary moment than Prince singing Purple Rain” in the rain. Period. The audience was kept warm in the cold rain by a face-melting guitar solo courtesy of you know who.

Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (2014)

Or Bruno Mars and those weird uncles from Los Angeles that crashed his show. Yes, Red Hot Chili Peppers are iconic, but the Super Bowl was definitely Bruno Mars’ moment. Look at that gold suit, his smooth moves. So suave.

Beyonce (2013)

In the first few seconds you realize you don’t need to see Beyoncé to feel Beyoncé. This was only her first Super Bowl performance and we thought she wrecked us then.

Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott (2005)

Ft. Left Shark. People need to give Katy Perry more credit as the pop diva she is because she slaaaayed! On a giant metal lion too. And can we talk about Missy Elliott for a minute? Again, wrecked. We deserve an annual Missy Elliott appearance at the Super Bowl.

Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars (2016)

So, you really don’t need to watch the first five minutes of this performance. Coldplay was basically static noise. The real halftime shows happens at five minutes and 49 seconds, known to this day as Beyoncé vs. Bruno Mars. Bey performed “Formation” live, Bruno Mars walked to “Crazy in Love,” they squared off, I cried, Chris Martin intruded, I cried again. *feels*
