Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) prides itself on providing numerous resources to help students and recent graduates launch successful careers. In this competitive job market, having the right tools and support can make all the difference. At CPP, students are fortunate to have access to a wide range of career development resources that can help pave the way for a prosperous professional future. From the Career Center, part-time jobs at ASI, and multiple career fairs, the university offers a variety of tools to help Broncos enter the working world with confidence.

The Career Center offers a robust set of services to empower students’ professional development and launch successful careers. As Gian De Jesus, a Senior Brand Ambassador at the Career Center, explains, “Personalized one-on-one resume and cover letter reviews help students optimize their materials and convey their skills effectively to potential employers. Interactive workshops, regularly scheduled through MyBar, provide hands-on learning on acing interviews, from preparation to communication tactics.”

Beyond individualized support, the Career Center also provides career education through a variety of programs focused on networking, negotiation, personal branding, and other vital career skills. Mock interviews and recruiter panels offer insider perspectives. Whether through tailored counseling, experiential workshops, or big-picture career guidance, the Career Center gives students the tools to market themselves with confidence and purpose.

For students struggling to choose a career path, the Career Center offers assessments to match interests and values with potential occupations. Guidance on choosing a major and exploring options is also available. No matter where students are in their career exploration, advisors can provide insights to help them find fulfilling careers.

De Jesus adds, “Students should utilize the Career Center from the very beginning of their time as first-year students at the CPP. It is never too early for students to start exploring potential career paths and opportunities that interest them. By investing time early students can maximize the opportunities available during their college years.”

In addition to counseling services, the Career Center maintains Handshake, an online database of jobs, internships, and employers actively hiring Cal Poly Pomona students and alumni. Students can easily apply for opportunities, sign up for on-campus interviews, and schedule advising appointments through Handshake.

Working part-time at Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) provides Cal Poly Pomona students with hands-on professional experience. Working alongside campus leaders, students gain practical hard skills in their fields as well as soft skills like communication, responsibility, and teamwork. The professional environment fosters networking with administrators and peers.

ASI also offers training programs, performance reviews, and advancement opportunities that mirror those of full-time jobs. With meaningful work experience and connections, ASI student employees graduate with the tools needed to impress employers and secure careers aligned with their studies and interests. Working at ASI kickstarts students’ professional journeys, setting Broncos up for future success.
