With movies coming out every week, it can be hard to keep up with all the release dates. So here’s a quick rundown of some movies to get excited for this year:
JANUARY
Release Date: Jan. 20
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
IMDb Movie Summary: “Three girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities, and must try and escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.”
M. Night Shyamalan is back to mess with our minds and the trailer made me want to go see what plot twist he has in store for us this time.
FEBRUARY
Release Date: Feb. 3
Director: Peter Chelsom
IMDb Movie Summary: “The first human born on Mars travels to Earth for the first time, experiencing the wonders of the planet through fresh eyes. He embarks on an adventure with a street smart girl to discover how he came to be.”
The story kind of reminds me of “The Martian,” so count me in.

MARCH
Release Date: March 17
Director: Bill Condon
IMDb Movie Summary: “An adaptation of the Disney fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love.”
Just hearing the opening music to the trailer gave me goosebumps, and then Emma Watson as Belle… I die.

APRIL
Release Date: April 28
Director: James Ponsoldt
IMDb Movie Summary: “A woman lands a job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, where she becomes involved with a mysterious man.”
This trailer gave me the creeps and made me think about what all those tech companies up in Silicon Valley are up to. And since it stars Tom Hanks and Emma Watson, that’s enough to get me out of the house and to a movie theater.
MAY
Release Date: May 19
Director: Ridley Scott
IMDb Movie Summary: “The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”
Ridley Scott brought us the original “Alien” and is back to continue the film series. Are you ready?

JUNE
Release Date: June 2
Director: Patty Jenkins
IMDb Movie Summary: “An Amazon princess leaves her island home to explore the world and, in doing so, becomes one of the world’s greatest heroes.”
A female superhero and a female director. All I can say is that you’ll definitely find me at the midnight showing for this one.

JULY
Release Date: July 21
Director: Christopher Nolan
IMDb Movie Summary: “Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.”
There really hasn’t been a Christopher Nolan movie I haven’t loved and I’m sure this one will be no different.

AUGUST
Release Date: Aug. 11
Director: Gary Dauberman
IMDb Movie Summary: “Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.”
If you’re scared of dolls, then this movie might not be something you want to go see. Unless you want to have nightmares, of course.
SEPTEMBER

Director: Andrés Muschietti
IMDb Movie Summary: “In a small town in Maine, seven children known as The Losers Club come face to face with life problems, bullies and a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise.”
The film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1986 novel “It,” which was also adapted into a mini-series in 1990. I remember being terrified of the mini-series when I first saw it, so I’m curious to see if this one will be just as scary.
OCTOBER
Release Date: Oct. 6
Director: Denis Villeneuve
IMDb Movie Summary: “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
I remember watching “Blade Runner” when I was younger. It was epic back then, and I’m hoping this one will be as well. And with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, I don’t think they can really go wrong.

NOVEMBER
Release Date: Nov. 17
Director: Zack Snyder
IMDb Movie Summary: “Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.”
Are you ready to see Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg? Because I am.

DECEMBER
Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi

If you haven’t seen “The Force Awakens,” then I don’t think we can be friends. I am literally counting down the days.
