Splish, splash!

The Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC) pool party was a cannonball of fun before the Bronco Madness festivities, on Friday at the Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) 75th Anniversary Finale.

The pool party was the start to the spectacular finale celebration. At 4 p.m., the first 200 pool goers received a souvenir “How will you #RECHARGE?” beach towel.

The pool deck was stocked with toys and activities as DJ 4KO remixed tracks that had us all excited for summer’s arrival. Broncos hopped into the infinity style leisure and 10-lane lap pool located next to the BRIC (Bldg. 42). Beach balls, noodles, volleyballs and footballs flew around from Bronco to Bronco under the Pomona sun.

Shance Taylor, first-year music major, had never ventured over to the BRIC pool before attending the 75th Anniversary Finale. Taylor enjoyed the festivities with friends from the dorms saying, “the highlighted moment for me during the 75th Anniversary Finale was the pool party; it was definitely one of the best school events.”

Also declaring this event her definite favorite, Sara Vasquez, first-year kinesiology major, who got her friends together at the pool party to play volleyball! “The game got very intense and fun!”

No stranger to the BRIC pool, Moises McCulloch, landscape architect major, was happy to jump in the BRIC pool and see his school come together to form what he called “a family.”

“I met people I have lived with all year but never had the chance to talk to,” McCulloch said.

Excited for the BRIC’s opening fall 2014, McCulloch shared what he is most looking forward to at the complex. “Being an avid rock-climber, I am indisputably looking forward to the 54-foot rock wall; it’s my stress reliever and when it gets to those stressful times in school, this will be the perfect way out.” We and many others agree with McCulloch; the indoor rock wall is one of the most desirable amenities of the BRIC. We can’t wait to leave the classroom, conquer that 54-foot structure and then #RECHARGE in the facilities.

Stay tuned for the next portion of the 75th Anniversary Finale with a recap on the Bronco Commons activities with Parachute and the fireworks show at Bronco Madness.
