ASI Unfolded: BroncoFusion 2023 — The Tradition Continues  

BroncoFusion—Cal Poly Pomona’s highly anticipated annual concert—just unfolded! Over 3,400 students attended the dynamic celebration of new beginnings and unity on August 25. From the name itself, BroncoFusion is a fusion of music, entertainment, and camaraderie, which encapsulates the spirit of CPP. This embodies the university’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and excitement among its students. BroncoFusion sets the stage for meaningful connections as well as an unforgettable experience that will shape students’ journey throughout the year.

What started out as a small informational first-year event decades ago, BroncoFusion has evolved over the years to what is now, a can’t-miss concert experience for all CPP students! Over the years, many notable artists, DJs, and student performers have graced the BroncoFusion stage.

Three-time Grammy Award winner Chance the Rapper set the standard for the new age of BroncoFusion in 2014 where he performed his all-time classics such as “Cocoa Butter Kisses” and “Favorite Song.” Additionally, RL Grime headlined the sold-out BroncoFusion in 2017. The event was evidently growing in popularity as it is one of the most well-attended and successful concerts in BroncoFusion history.

Ty Dolla $ign wowed the crowd last year in the long-awaited return of BroncoFusion. The three-year wait due to the COVID-19 pandemic made BroncoFusion 2022 even more memorable as it amplified the joy among students as it rekindled the sense of togetherness and celebration that has always characterized BroncoFusion.

BroncoFusion 2023 was an electrifying success that brought the Cal Poly Pomona community together for an unforgettable night of music, fun, and Bronco spirit. From the moment the doors opened, a palpable energy filled the venue as students flooded in, eager for the festivities to begin.

The show kicked off with a performance by student artists DJ Mech_E and Rashooota, who got the crowd’s attention with their enthusiasm and high-spirited sets. Opening act, MISS DRE, electrified the audience with her performance, leading up to the much-anticipated headliner, DJ Dillon Francis who took the stage by storm. Francis delivered a high-energy performance that had the crowd going from start to finish.

James Ignatius, a third-year Economics student, couldn’t contain his excitement, sharing, “Dillon Francis’s set was nothing short of spectacular; it felt like a genuine concert experience. My personal highlight was his performance of ‘Don’t Let Me Let Go.’”

Beyond the extraordinary performances, BroncoFusion 2023 offered no shortage of fun. Attendees let loose with carnival games, 360 photo booths, and a mini-golf course that saw friendly competition and lots of laughs.

As the night wound down, an atmosphere of community and connection buzzed through the venue. BroncoFusion 2023 embodied the spirit and unity of Cal Poly Pomona. Memories were made, bonds were forged, and Bronco pride shined bright. It was truly a night to remember!
