We’ve covered the best movies of 2014, and now it’s time to move to the smaller, more silver screen. Here are the top five TV shows (according to the International Movie Data Base) we’ve thoroughly enjoyed this year! (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

5. Game of Thrones

In this drama, nine noble families find themselves at war for control of the fictional lands of Westeros. The show is based on the novel by the same name and is packed with politics, gore, romance, horror and more, making it a huge nighttime hit on TV.

4. American Horror Story

From the Murder House to the Asylum, from the Coven to the Freak Show, American Horror Story is known to have no boundaries when it comes to scaring, creeping out and disturbing their audiences. Regardless, the FX show has drawn audiences every Wednesday night and has won numerous awards.

3. Arrow

When a millionaire goes missing at sea for five years, it’s no surprise that his sudden return raises numerous questions. Even more questionable is his sudden need to fight crime as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow and arrow.

2. Sons of Anarchy

The Sons of Anarchy is a motorcycle club that runs both illegal and legal businesses in their town, Charming. The series follows Jax, a new father who struggles to find balance between his home life and his involvement in the club as VP.

1. The Walking Dead

In a post zombie apocalyptic world, a group of survivors learns to live life as normally as possible with the undead still lingering around. But even with the disease that has infected humans worldwide still rampant, their biggest problems prove not to be the zombies but the other survivors they encounter.
