We’ve recapped the 2014 top favorites for movies and TV shows, but let’s not forget what a great year 2014 was for the music industry! Here are the top five artists (according to the Billboard Hot 100) we’ve thoroughly enjoyed this year!

5. Justin Timberlake

With his release of “The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2” and his collaboration with the late Michael Jackson in Love Never Felt So Good, Justin Timberlake made his presence well known in 2014. Having taken a break the previous years for his acting career, his return to the music industry was as much of a surprise as it was a pleasure.

4. Taylor Swift

2014 has been an undeniably groundbreaking year for Taylor Swift. The country artist made her official debut into pop with her album, “1989” which literally made history. Not only did “1989” break records for sales since 2002, but after selling a million copies in the first week of the album’s drop, Taylor Swift officially became the only artist in history to have three albums (“Speak Now,” “Red” and “1989“) sell in the millions within the first week.

3. Beyoncé

After dropping her self-titled album at midnight on December 13, 2013 with absolutely no publicity, Beyoncé most definitely “broke the internet.” The queen released her album as she was on stage for her Mrs. Carter Tour, and fans lost it. With its themes of feminism, equality, self-confidence and just overall flawless-ness, “Beyoncé” can qualify as one of 2014’s biggest phenomenons.

2. Katy Perry

After releasing her album, “Prism” in 2013, Katy Perry has had five singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014. The artist also started her Prismatic World Tour in May of 2014, and has also started her own record label under Capitol Records known as Metamorphosis Music.

1. One Direction

After launching to fame with the help of Simon Cowell, One Direction has undeniably become one of the biggest boy bands in the world. In 2014, the band announced the making of a concert film named Where We Are, released in November. In addition, the band released their fourth album titled “Four” with their songs, Steal My Girl and Night Changes making it onto the Billboard Top 200 and topping UK charts.
