Fall means a lot more than just back-to-school stresses; the coming of autumn also means the arrival of festivals, fairs and events during Halloween time! Thankfully, as Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) students, we don’t have to go very far to enjoy this season. In fact, we don’t have to go anywhere!

Here are a few of the awesome events happening on campus this month!

1.  Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers (OSLCC) Fest

On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers (OSLCC) will be throwing the OSLCC Fest during U-Hour (noon to 1 p.m.) in University Park! The event will include giveaways, prizes, a photo booth, food sales, free frozen yogurt from Golden Spoon and countless opportunities to get involved with the many clubs and organizations on campus! For more information, visit the Facebook event here.

2. Matt’s Run

Looking to keep your body moving and heart pumping? The Matthew Myers Memorial Scholarship 5K Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 6:30-10 a.m. This year, the annual run will be superhero themed, and all participants are encouraged to wear their favorite hero’s costume. Register for the event here!

3. Pumpkin Festival

Being a CPP student means we have access to one of the best pumpkin festivals in Southern California! The annual festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will include one of the largest pumpkin patches in California, games, a petting farm, horse rides, a corn maze, entertainment, contests, pancake breakfast and so much more! Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children three to 12 years old and free for children two years old or younger. Can’t make it this year? No problem; the pumpkin patch will still be open for picking from Tuesday, Oct. 20 to Friday, Oct. 30.

4. Insect Fair

What’s October without a few creepy-crawlies? Come out for the annual Insect Fair on Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35). The event will have over 500,000 live and preserved insects from all around the world! Admission is $5 per person, $4 per student and free for children two years old and under.
