Project Aware – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty

Many people know little about what they are seeing or the importance of reef ecosystems. The Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course helps you appreciate the complexity of these habitats and teaches you how you can help conserve these vital systems. There are no other parts to this course, once completed you will receive a certification.

Project Aware – AWARE Specialty

Project AWARE is a global movement for ocean protection. It focuses and expands on the 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet. This course unites scuba divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference for our environment. By earning this certification, you’ll learn how you can make a difference for ocean protection every time you dive or travel. There is no other parts to this course, once completed you will receive a certification.

Open Water Diver Course

If you’ve always wanted to experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The ASI Scuba Dive Center is offering the PADI Open Water Diver course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. The course includes online module lessons, pool practice sessions, and open water dives in the beautiful Southern California waters. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Practical training sessions and dives (parts 2 & 3) are required and available at additional fees. These will be offered by Campus Recreation in the future.

Advanced Open Water Diver Course

Build confidence and expand your scuba skills through various adventure dives. While experiencing a taster of different specialties under the supervision of your PADI instructor, you will explore and learn new ways to have fun underwater. Rescue Diver Course

This course prepares divers to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, divers learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, divers put into practice their knowledge and skills. It’s challenging, yet very rewarding. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Adaptive Diving Techniques

The PADI Adaptive Techniques Specialty course builds on the skill foundation by enhancing the training PADI Professionals receive and preparing them for student-centered approaches when adapting techniques are required to meet diver needs. For professional divers only! Must be at least Dive Master certified to participate.

Boat Diver Specialty

Much of the world’s best scuba diving is accessible only by boat. Whether you’ve never made a boat dive, or you’ve logged dozens, the PADI Boat Diver Specialty course will benefit you because boats in various parts of the world do things differently. Digital Underwater Photography Specialty

Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and with so many underwater cameras to choose from, it has become easier and more fun than ever to capture images of your underwater scuba adventures. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly, whether you use a point-and-shoot camera or a sophisticated DSLR like the pros. Bring your own camera system or use one of ours! This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Dive Propulsion Vehicle Specialty

Propel your way through the water and glide over reefs, buzz around a large wreck or weave through a kelp forest. D.P.V.’s offer a thrilling way for scuba divers to see a lot of underwater territory in a short amount of time. They scoot you through the water allowing you to glide over reefs, buzz around a large wreck or weave through a kelp forest. Whether making a shore or boat dive, a D.P.V. is a great way to see more and have fun doing it. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Drift Diver Specialty

The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course teaches you how to enjoy going with the flow as you scuba dive down rivers and use ocean currents to glide along. It feels like flying, except that you’re underwater using scuba equipment. Drift diving can be relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. If this sound like fun, then the Drift Diver course is for you. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Enriched Air Diver Specialty

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course allows scuba divers to dive with enriched air (nitrox).If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air specialty diver. Equipment Specialist

Learn to manage basic scuba diving equipment repairs and adjustments. Understand routine care and maintenance procedures and how dive gear works. Don’t miss a dive due to minor issues with your scuba diving equipment. Whether it’s a missing o-ring, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, the PADI Equipment Specialist course teaches you to manage basic repairs and adjustments. You’ll also learn more about how your gear works, making you more comfortable with it and better prepared to take care of your investment. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Practical training session (parts 2) are required and available at an additional fee. Fish Identification Specialty

Enjoy dives even more when you can recognize and identify fish families and their characteristics. “What was that fish?” is a common question heard after a dive. If you want to be the scuba diver with the answers, instead of the one asking the questions, then take the Fish Identification Specialty course. You’ll enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see and can identify the main fish families and their characteristics. Night Diving Specialty

The thought of dipping below the surface at night seems mysterious, yet so alluring. Although you’ve been scuba diving at a site many times before, at night you drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge. If you’ve wondered what happens underwater after the sun goes down, sign up for the PADI Night Diver Specialty course. Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty

Excellent buoyancy control is what defines skilled scuba divers. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They more easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings. You can achieve this, too. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level. Search & Recovery Specialty

It happens: People accidentally drop things from docks, off boats or even while scuba diving. If you’ve ever lost something in the water and wanted to go find it, then the PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course is for you. There are effective ways to search for objects underwater that increase your chances of success. And there are good and better methods to bring up small, large or just awkward items. Search and recovery can be challenging, but a whole lot of fun. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Underwater Naturalist Specialty

Learn about the different major aquatic life groupings and how they interact so that you understand what you observe in the underwater world. You will learn to observe the aquatic ecosystems objectively, and understand the interactions and relationships between different ocean inhabitants. This course requires 2 on-line sessions, date to be arranged between instructor and participant after registration. This course fee only covers your on-line training and assessments. Wreck Diver Specialty

Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course is popular because it offers rewarding adventures while observing responsible wreck diving practices.
