Mindful Broncos

Description

Mindfulness – the ability to focus on being intensely aware of what you’re sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment.

You may have heard of the many benefits of practicing mindfulness, but sitting down to meditate can be quite challenging. At this workshop, you’ll learn unique ways on how you can practice mindfulness in everyday life. We’ll go beyond seated meditation and discuss how you can achieve this through movement, out in nature, or even in the classroom.

Join us for a series of group sessions where you’ll learn actionable steps you can take to implement a mindfulness practice into your daily routine. Each session will be co-facilitated by one of our fitness professionals and a CAPS counselor. Sessions will be supplemented with on-demand content on Kaltura. Sessions do not have to be attended in succession. No previous experience is necessary. Registration open to Cal Poly Pomona students only.

Art of Running

Description

Running is considered one of the most convenient forms of exercise because no equipment is required and can be done just about anywhere! Join our co-facilitators Personal Trainer Elisabeth and special guest Ed from the Career Center to learn about how to take the first step in your running program. This workshop will include a discussion on the rewards of running, route setting, injury prevention, and more.

Description

Having trouble deciding which foods should be fueling your fitness and wellness? Learn from Campus Rec experts on trending science-backed nutrition topics to improve daily living and an overall quality of life. Topics will include, but are not limited to: Nutrition 101, Meal Prepping, Plant Based Diets, etc. Questions are invited in this open forum format with peers and aspiring nutrition professionals.

Afro & Merengue Dance Workshop

Description

Get fit, have fun and dance to Latin and World rhythms with easy-to-follow steps that will help strengthen and tone your whole body. This is an adrenaline filled heart pumping workshop with music to fill the soul. This workshop will feature Afro and Merengue rhythms that will help you learn the most basic to most advance progressions of each movement to get your heart pumping to each beat. In addition, this workshop will also help you learn about the people and origins of the music. Please remember to bring water and come ready to get moving!
