It’s getting colder every day. It’s the kind of weather that is perfect for bundling up under the covers with warm hot chocolate and listening to music about even colder weather. At least that’s the case for us in Southern California, where a white Christmas is only seen on TV.
No matter the weather you’re dealing with, this playlist is sure to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Enjoy it on any winter day.
Winter Song- Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson
This song has been on every one of my winter playlists ever since The Hotel cafe released its Winter Songs album in 2008. It’s slow, but perfectly lovely. The music video is especially nice.
Please Come Home- Gary Clark Jr.
American Grammy-nominated guitarist Gary Clark Jr.’s first album will have you signing the blues with this song off his first album.
Warmest Part of Winter- Voxtrot
It’s cold outside, so listen to these lyrics when they tell you “Come inside you are hungry for sleep.”
Sweater Weather- The Neighbourhood
This uptempo indie song made for The Neighbourhood’s debut album “I Love You” can brighten up your mood on a dark day. Southern California kids can relate to lyrics like “in California with my toes in the sand.”
Something Bells- Daedelus
Los Angeles producer Alfred Darlington, better known by his stage name Daedelus, made a festive album in 2004 called On Snowdonia, which everyone should give a try this time of year. With a beautiful bell chorus and fuzzed-out chorus line, “Something Bells” is easily the prettiest and most upbeat song on the album.
Got Something For You- Best Coast and Wavves
Cuteness galore! Two California bands got together to make this sweet music. Play it at your next holiday party as you’re handing out presents.
The Doors Wintertime Love
It’s an oldie but a goodie. Keep warm by the fire listening to this beautiful winter song.
Snow in California- Ariana Grande
In this third song off her upcoming EP “Christmas Kisses,” Ariana Grande asks Santa to make it snow on the West Coast, so she can spend more time with her special someone. My sentiments exactly!
One More Sleep- Leona Lewis
The former X-factor contestant may have created a new classic with this festive and fun song about the excitement the night before Christmas Day.
In The Morning- Jack Johnson
This song serves as a good reminder that family, friends and the simple things are the gifts we truly need.
