Summer is winding down and, sadly, slowly coming to an end but there is still time to enjoy beach trips with the windows rolled down and music blasting. By now, you probably have some designated favorite songs in your playlist, but I’m here to introduce you to some new ones. So, whether you’re headed to the beach, a backyard barbecue or relaxing at home, this playlist has what you need.
Songs you should already love
1. “I Love It” by Icona Pop
This song will forever remind me of my sister’s bachelorette party weekend as it quickly became our anthem, even though it is a bit of a breakup song. It’s just so catchy!
2. “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
Although this song and “Same Love” have been topping Billboard’s Hot 100 chart since spring, they’re still holding strong. “Can’t Hold Us” is a great song for you and your friends to sing along with on your way to the beach or a summer music festival.
3. “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk ft. Pharrell
If you don’t know every word of this song by now, you must be living under a rock. Yes, it’s getting overplayed but I’ll put money on it that everyone is down to dance to this jam when it hits the speakers.
4. “Treasure” by Bruno Mars
Perfect for dancing to, this song proves that Bruno Mars is becoming the next Michael Jackson (if that’s possible).
5. “I Want Crazy” by Hunter Hayes
This young country cutie has got girls everywhere falling in love. Make “I Want Crazy” part of your summer love soundtrack and you won’t regret it.
Songs you will come to love
6. “Roar” by Katy Perry
Katy brings a fresh, new sound as she goes from a meow to a roar. The catchy tune has an indie feel to it and, of course, an adorable lyric video.
7. You & Me (feat. Eliza Doolittle)- Disclosure
These English boys know how to rock! Listen to this as you chill with your friends at one of the last parties of summer. The uptempo beat can also make for a good workout song.
8. “Royals” by Lorde
With “Royals,” 16-year-old Lorde became the first solo female in 17 years to top Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, and for good reason. It’s gritty and real.
9. I Didn’t Believe (feat. Elizabeth Rose)- Flight Facilities
Introducing Flight Facilities, an Australian indie electro DJ duo. Say that five times fast. The smooth soul flavor and enchanting lyrics are perfect for your summer love.
10. Losing You- Solange
If your summer romance comes to an end, Solange should help you recover. Beyonce’s younger sister is becoming a star and you won’t want to miss watching her rise to the top.
