What are independent films?

Independent films, also known as indie films, are feature-length films produced without a major studio backing them, meaning they have a low budget. Indie filmmakers must find creative ways to portray their stories due to their low budgets. A24 made history in this year’s Oscars and won in all six of the major categories, which include Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director! If you didn’t watch the Oscars, check out this story here for some of the noteworthy moments!
