This is the last post in a series on women’s fall fashion. Read up on some of the other hot fall trends — leather, military, classic prints and peplum — so you can be using the Cal Poly Pomona campus as your runway.
More than anything, back to school fashion often revolves around denim, as it’s a classic staple for any wardrobe. This fall, consider experimenting with your denim choices.
There’s more to the Americana staple than a simple dark wash of skinny jeans or a denim jacket, although those are on trend items to own. Branch out from the norm by trying patchwork denim, permanent black and even — believe it or not — overalls. The ’90s are back, so embrace that if you want to!
You’ve probably known that fall and winter styling is all about layering. Well, now the layering trend goes for denim too. It’s totally okay to do denim on denim. Just layer it correctly, so you won’t look like you’re wearing a Canadian tuxedo. Wearing different shades of denim and types of fabric make the look work. A soft, patchwork shirt with light wash jeans can make for a perfect ensemble, as shown by fashion blogger Keiko Lynn.
Still need a good pair of jeans (or anything denim) before school starts? Thankfully, a lot of stores realize denim is a fall must-have, so they throw big sales to encourage purchases from their customers (yay!). Most back to school sales are over, but some stores are still holding jean sales, such as American Eagle.
As with any look, style it and make it your own with accessories and you will be making the hallways your runway in no time. Then every day will feel like school picture day! Cheesy as that may sound, it’s true (not that there is anything wrong with that for us fashionistas).
