Women’s 2013 Fall Fashion: Military

Military look

Fall fashion is all about versatile pieces that are well-suited for layering, which is why the military style makes for a perfect go-to look.

Coat: Chicwish, Shirt: AE, Slim-fit Pants: H&M

From camo print, to chunky black boots and olive green leggings, there are so many ways you can make it work for you.

A military trench coat can be the perfect addition to your back-to-school wardrobe. Go big or go home, right?

Personally, big military coats will always remind me of Lindsay Weir, the high school girl protagonist from Freaks and Geeks, who is one of the coolest girls from old-school TV. She rocked her dad’s old Army jacket like it was nobody’s business.

If you’re not up for wearing a trench coat, there are other ways to incorporate the trend into your look. Get ideas from the runway, but also personalize with accessories, such as gold studs, red lipstick, a lacy shirt or something else that’s totally you. Take the iconic MTV animated character Daria, for example–her version of the 90’s military trend included her army green jacket, black pleated mini skirt and military boots, making for the perfect army chic style that has since taken many different forms.

The military trend can also easily be combined with other popular cold weather trends, such as leather and denim. Make the look edgy by adding a strong pair of boots and studs or keep it laid back with soft pieces, such as a white chiffon top.

In short, the military style can easily be replicated with your own personal touch due to its versatility. Don’t be afraid to layer and keep in mind this tough look can be transformed into a feminine¬†look as well.
