Indie rock/electronica band Shiny Toy Guns will perform live at Cal Poly Pomona’s BroncoFusion on Wednesday, Sept. 22. The performance, sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., is free to all new and returning students and will begin at 5 p.m. at the Bronco Commons performance stage. Bronco Commons is the new activity space located by the new Residential Suites, and BroncoFusion will be the first event to break in the new venue.
Shiny Toy Guns is a Los Angeles-based band comprised of its four members, Chad Petree (vocals, guitar), Jeremy Dawson (keyboards, bass), Mikey Martin (drums, percussion) and Sisely Treasure (vocals). In 2006, their debut album “We Are Pilots” received a Grammy Award nomination and their follow-up album, “Season of Poison,” featured two songs that rose to the top 30 in the Alternative Song Chart. Shiny Toy Guns can also be heard on the commercials for the new 2010 Lincoln MKZ.
Shiny Toy Guns will be performing an exclusive Digital Hybrid set consisting of visual lighting effects and performers. Opening acts to the concert include Pigeon John, and Cal Poly Pomona artists Lyrically Twisted, One Silver Astronaut, Whyte Boy and Chris Alanis with Cal Poly Pomona host MC Prototype.
BroncoFusion is an annual day-long event held the day before fall quarter begins and provides a chance for new and returning students to enjoy campus life and learn about university resources. Educational workshops, campus tours, open houses and social activities are just a few of the events held that day. Students will also have early access to the Bronco Bookstore and can obtain parking passes and student ID cards.
