Spring intramural championships bring excitement to week 10

Spring 2012 intramurals basketball champions, Chela's Secret

Spring quarter is coming to a close and the intramural sports championship games are heating up! Last week Campus Recreation welcomed three new teams  into the winners circle as the intramural basketball season ended.

Team Yaz dominated in the co-rec league with a final score of 73-38, while Chela’s Secret went into triple overtime and cinched their victory in the women’s league. For the men’s league YOLO was the top team and celebrated an end to a competitive season.

This week you can catch the championship games for the remaining three sports and cheer on your favorite teams.

Visit the Activity Fields on Thursday, May 31 for the softball championship game. Be sure to get there early to see the first pitch of the game, which will be thrown by newly elected ASI President Christopher Osuala and to hear game announcements from Chris Powell.

Friday, June 1 will be filled with competitive play starting with the soccer championships at 2 p.m. on the Intramural Field near Bronco Commons.

Flag football championship games will also be held on Friday afternoon with the co-rec game starting at 3:15 p.m. and the men’s game beginning at 4:45 p.m.
