Bronco Spirit Week Events

Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) students showed their school spirit with Bronco Spirit Week’s stacked lineup of fun events leading up to Homecoming! The week-long event was an effort by Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Bronco Events and Activities Team (BEAT) and Student Government to promote school spirit.  All week long, Broncos were encouraged to wear CPP gear and share what made them proud to be Broncos!

The week began with free coffee at the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35) from 9-10 a.m. followed by Bronco Spirit Week Kickoff at the BSC (Bldg. 35), Center Court.

“As college students, a lot of us have 8 a.m. classes so not a lot of us get to eat enough in the morning, so it was cool that the university provided food for us,” said Kalina Kazemi, third-year civil engineering student.

“I liked the Pep Rally because I like big flashy things and it really matched my idea of what a Spirit Week should look like,” said ASI President Uriah Sanders. “It was really amazing experiencing something that had only been an idea for so long actually going well and making an impact on people’s weeks and perceptions of the school.”

On Tuesday, students were able to meet new friends and browse through the many clubs on campus at the Club Fair, which took place during U-Hour (noon to 1 p.m.) at the University Quad.

Regardless if they were newcomers or fitness buffs, students were welcomed to the Bronco Recreational and Intramural Complex (BRIC, Bldg. 42) for Workout Wednesday!

The BRIC stayed open all day for students to enjoy their facilities and participate in fitness events such as a full-body workout class, the BRIC’s Bronco Peak obstacle course and swim workout of the day.

Glendora-based rockers Falquist set the tone during Thursday’s U-Rock concert. The show took place during U-Hour (noon to 1 p.m.), so students were free to roam University Park, catch live music, win prizes at the ASI table and enjoy free KIND bars, courtesy of BEAT.

Students were welcome to stick around on campus for the second half of Thursday’s activities: Bronco Tailgate at the Bronco Commons.

BEAT topped off the week with a Homecoming Dance at the BSC, Ursa Major (Bldg. 35-2611) with the help of the Inter-Hall Council (IHC) and University Housing Services. With free food, laser tag, a photo booth and a live set by DJ 4KO, the dance was the perfect send off for Homecoming week!
