The Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Games Room Etc. (GRE, Bldg. 35-1110) is the ultimate on-campus resource for students to unwind and relax at the end of a hectic day. Located in the Bronco Student Center (BSC, Bldg. 35), it’s a convenient location for students to meet new friends and enjoy the many programs, events and services the GRE has to offer, listed below:
The GRE has an extensive list of events throughout the quarter such as Pool Tournaments, Pingpong Tournaments, Smash Bros. Tournaments, Lost and Found Auctions, Thrift Shop and Paint on Canvas. Students can enjoy weekly activities such as online multiplayer Xbox and PS4, Tasty Tuesdays, $1 Wednesdays and $5 Saturdays.
Other activities the GRE provides are bowling lanes, gaming consoles, arcade games, air hockey tables, pingpong tables, foosball tables, billiard tables and free entry in the Pool Tournaments and Pingpong Tournaments.
Not only is the GRE an exciting place for students to spend their time between classes, but it also serves as an ideal meeting spot for clubs. Clubs can reserve space in the GRE to hold meetings by filling out the Games Room Facilities Reservation Form.
Students can book a private reservation of the whole facility as well as a semi-private reservation of the general lounge which includes access to two bowling lanes, two billiard tables and two pingpong tables.
Other rentals available to students include tables, the TV lounge, billiard tables, table tennis, gaming consoles and foosball tables.
The GRE box office offers discounted tickets for students including tickets to amusement parks; AMC and Regal movie theaters; bus passes for the Metro and Foothill transit and other attractions such as Catalina Express, Medieval Times, K1 Speed and Speed Zone.
The GRE serves as Cal Poly Pomona’s official Lost and Found. Here, students can look for or turn in lost items. Unclaimed items are auctioned off at the GRE’s Lost and Found Auction every quarter.
The GRE offers many job opportunities for students to cultivate their professional skills in a welcoming environment. As GRE attendant Elizabeth Ibarra said, “I learned more about myself as a person. I’ve learned a lot of customer service and communication skills. I’ve only been here for a year but I’ve learned so much.”
Student positions include GRE attendants, student assistant supervisors and managers.
