The clock struck noon as the little eyes of children gasped in amazement when they entered the room and saw an array of apple sandwiches and warm tea at this past week’s Spring Tea Party and Silent Auction hosted by the Children’s Center.
The Cal Poly Pomona Children’s Center hosted the Spring Tea and Silent Auction for the children and their families on Wednesday, May 4. This was the first time that the Children’s Center had combined the Spring Tea with the fundraiser; none the less, the children had a special time at the tea party.
The children and families stayed for formal tea and sandwiches from noon to 1:30 p.m. while the silent auction opened at noon and ended at 5:30 p.m. The drawing for the prizes took place at 5:30 p.m.
The Auction consisted of gift baskets donated from Cal Poly Pomona departments and local supporters. “We’re really appreciative of all the support from the campus community,” said Yvonne Bailey, director of the Children’s Center.
“Originally we did not have that many baskets,” said Bailey. “ But, then from the support of the campus community we ended up with a total of 50 baskets.”
The Spring Tea and Auction was truly a success and helped raise money for a great cause, the Children’s Center. For more information regarding the Children’s Center, visit asi.csupomona.edu/childrenctr
