CPP and Mt. SAC have had a blood battle for the past four years. That’s right, the American Red Cross has teamed up with CPP and Mt. SAC to host a blood drive competition between the two schools.
CPP won the battle the second and third year and is currently wining this year’s blood drive. But, we can’t do it alone. There are various dates where students can come out and support the drive. Currently, the drive is hosted in the BSC Ursa Major from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. April 19-21.
“It is important to give blood,” said Ryan Okerson, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering major. “If I was in a situation that I needed blood, I would hope someone would be willing to give me blood.”
Not just anyone can give blood. When you come down to the BSC you will receive a few tests to make sure you are able to give blood. There is a protocol to be followed to make certain no injuries are made to the students.
“We are continually trying to improve the quota (because) there is continuously a shortage in blood each year,” said Debbie Jackley, marketing coordinator for Student Health Services. “I want to give a heart felt thanks to everyone who came and donated blood.”
Come out to the BSC and help CPP bring home the trophy. The following are other blood drive dates: May 17-18 and June 28-29. Don’t wait, this is your time to help someone in need by donating blood to the American Red Cross.
